The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), founded in 1943, is the largest and oldest national organization representing the massage therapy profession. AMTA Professional membership is limited to massage therapists who have demonstrated a certain level of skill and expertise through testing and/or education. All AMTA therapists must agree to abide by the AMTA Code of Ethics.
The Georgia Chapter of the AMTA currently has approximately 1100 members and 15 member schools. The American Massage Therapy Association represents more than 57,000 massage therapists in 27 countries.
The AMTA works to establish massage therapy as integral to the maintenance of good health and complementary to other therapeutic processes; to advance the profession through ethics and standards, certification, school accreditation, continuing education, professional publications, legislative efforts, public education, and fostering the development of members.
